Masters Program Descriptions
Team rosters are subject to coach approval. Members generally self-select their desired team, however coaches may designate a different team based on evaluation of the member’s skills, abilities, experience, and goals.
MRC supports and affirms the USRowing Gender Identity Policy which states athletes may participate in rowing activities in accordance with their expressed gender identity. For more information, please visit the webpage USRowing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resources, or contact Club Administrator Jen Sowins.
We maintain broad definitions of men and women that span a spectrum of gender identities, including cis-gender, transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people. While MRC competitive teams are gendered, rowers are welcome to join any team and provides options for racing regardless of gender identity.
COMPETITIVE MEN'S TEAM
COMPETITIVE WOMEN'S TEAMS
Minneapolis Rowing Club offers two teams for competitive women rowers, a National Team and a Regional Team. These teams comprise skilled rowers who identify as women and are interested in competing. Across both the National and Regional teams, we maintain a threefold focus on rowing technique, racing skills, and competitive fitness levels. Placement determined by rower goals and coaching staff evaluation of skill, fitness, and experience.
Comp Women National
Comp Women Regional
GREEN TEAM
Inclusive team comprised of 2nd year rowers and/or rowers new to MRC with one year of experience. This program may also be appropriate for athletes returning to the sport after an absence. Emphasis is on
developing/improving sweep and sculling skills, practicing/racing in boats of varying sizes, and
race preparation/endurance.
RECREATIONAL TEAM
Rowers with 2-40+ years of on-water rowing experience who desire to row primarily for fitness in a friendly environment. The focus is continuous development of sweep and sculling techniques accompanied by challenging workouts. This inclusive team is a non-racing program, but interested rowers will be given the option to race at select local regattas.
