MRC has updated and seeks to expand its rowing programs for youth entering sixth, seventh, or eighth grades.

Enjoy learning a cool, new sport in a safe environment on the Mississippi River this summer. We focus on fun and learning as well as fitness. Participants are taught the basics of the rowing stroke along with boat handling, terminology, and care for equipment.

Middle School Learn To Row Camps 2026
We'll introduce you to rowing so you can join our team, even if you've never rowed before. Just choose the option that fits your schedule and register by clicking below. There is no obligation to join the Middle School team.

Scholarship and financial assistance is available, please visit our Financial Assistance page.

Learn to Row participants should wear athletic shoes and closer fitting gym type clothing. Excessively baggy tops and bottoms could get caught in the boat. Following camp, participants are encouraged to continue rowing in the Middle School Rowing Program.

Middle School Rowing Program
Click on the season to register. Completion of a Middle School Rowing Camp or equivalent with another organization is a pre-requisite for participation in the Middle School Rowing Program. This program is designed to be repeatable as instruction will be adjusted to the rowers skill level.

Spring 2026: April 6 - June 6 (returning athletes only)
4:00pm - 6:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays
11:30am - 1:30pm Saturdays

Summer 2026: June 15 - August 23
3:30-5:30pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Fall 2026: August 31 - November 1
4:00pm - 6:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays
11:30am - 1:30pm Saturdays

This program will continue development of sweep rowing and sculling skills in a fun and supportive environment. We welcome rowers back throughout middle school and provide an excellent progression for those interested in continuing to row in high school. On the final day of the program, members of MRC Junior Team will mix it up with Middle School Rowers and race in a mini regatta.

We understand vacations and other activities and commitments will occur, especially during the summer. For optimal enjoyment, we recommended commitment to approximately 75% of sessions.

The Middle School Rowing Program requires a minimum enrollment of 5 participants. The registration fee will be refunded if a season is cancelled due to low enrollment.
