Join Us for a Day of Racing on the Water!
Minneapolis Rowing Club is thrilled to host the Lake Nokomis Sprints Regatta, a full day of side-by-side sprint racing on the scenic waters of Lake Nokomis. Rowers of all ages and experience levels—from juniors to masters—will compete in a fun, fast-paced event that brings our local and regional rowing communities together.
Come enjoy the energy of race day, cheer on the crews, and experience the sport of rowing up close!

For Spectators
What to Expect
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and find a comfortable spot along the shores of Lake Nokomis. Feel free to bring snacks, sunblock, and your cheering voice!
Races will run throughout the day, with a variety of ages and boat classes on display. You'll see everything from novice rowers to seasoned competitors giving it their all.

Rowing Lingo
🧒 By Group

Junior/Youth (U19): Athletes who do not turn 19 during the calendar year of the event. Typically high school-aged rowers.

U17 / U16 / U15: Subcategories for younger juniors, defined by age on December 31 of the current year.

Open: No age restrictions—open to all athletes.

Masters: Athletes aged 21 and older. Broken into 5-year increments (e.g., 21–26, 27–35, 36–42, etc.) with handicaps applied in races based on age.

Para Inclusive: inclusive rowing event for para athletics
🛶 By Boat Class
These designate the type and number of rowers in the boat:

1x: Single sculls (1 rower with 2 oars)

2x: Double sculls (2 rowers, each with 2 oars)

2-: Pair (2 rowers, each with 1 oar, no coxswain)
-
4x: Quadruple sculls (4 rowers, each with 2 oars)

4+ / 4-: Coxed four / Straight four (4 rowers, each with 1 oar, with or without a coxswain)

8+: Eight (8 rowers with 1 oar each + coxswain)
